What is Critical Illness insurance?

The coverage, provided through Sun Life, provides lump-sum cash benefits to help you cover the out-of-pocket expenses associated with critical illness, like cancer or heart disease.

Who can I enroll in Critical Illness coverage?

You may enroll yourself, your legal spouse and children up to age 26.

Are my dependents covered for the same amount as me?

No. Your covered dependents receive 50% of your basic-benefit amount.

Do I lose my Critical Illness benefit if I leave the Partnership?

No. The benefit is portable, so you can take it with you if you leave the Partnership in the future.

Am I required to provide Evidence of Insurability (EOI) to enroll in Critical Illness coverage?

No. You are not required to provide EOI to enroll in Critical Illness coverage.

What is Cancer insurance?

The Cancer coverage, through Sun Life, pays for necessary services and treatment for a covered cancer or specified disease.

Can I enroll my spouse and children in Cancer coverage?

Yes. You may enroll yourself, your legal spouse and children up to age 26.

Are my spouse and children covered for the same amount as me?

Yes. Your covered dependents receive 100% of your basic-benefit amount.

When I enroll in Cancer coverage, will I be required to pay premiums if I am disabled?

No. Premiums are waived if you are totally disabled and unable to work for 90 days due to a cancer diagnosis.

Do I lose my Cancer benefit if I leave the Partnership?

No. The benefit is portable, so you can take it with you if you leave the Partnership in the future.
